I can say that everybody knows a brand of Uniqlo because it is so famous around the world. The brand came from Japan and it used to be under the name “Unique Clothing Warehouse” in May 1984. It was supposed to be selling unique clothes at that time. During administration between Hongkong in relation to the brand, staff in charge of registration misread the “C” as “Q”, and that is how the brand name was born.
By April 1994, there were over 100 Uniqlo stores operating throughout Japan.
In 2002 their first Chinese Uniqlo outlet was opened in Shanghai along with four overseas outlets in London, England. 2005 saw more overseas expansion, with stores opening in the United States (New York City), Hong Kong (Tsim Sha Tsui) and South Korea (Seoul). As of 31 August 2017, the company reported that 1920 Uniqlo stores were in operation worldwide. Uniqlo has a large presence in Indonesia. Debuted in 2013 at Lotte Shopping Avenue Jakarta, Uniqlo expands rapidly in Jakarta and other cities.
Per 2019, Uniqlo has 15 stores in Jakarta (including stores in Bekasi and Tangerang), 3 stores in Surabaya, 2 stores in Bandung and Makassar, and 1 store in Yogyakarta, Denpasar, Medan, and Pekanbaru, and 1 store in Denpasar Bali.
As what I have mentioned, Uniqlo has 3 stores in Surabaya, and of them is in Tunjungan Plaza. Tunjungan Plaza is the hugest mall in Surabaya that the Uniqlo opened a really wide store in there. It opened the store in September 2017.

Uniqlo sells a lot of kinds of clothing for men, women and kids, such as jackets, shorts, pants, shirts, scarfs, and etc.
But most of the clothing there are for women. As we know, that women love to shop. They mostly spend their time for shopping to escape from their stress. They will be easily to get attracted when they see good things in the store. Whenever they see the stuff that is amazing to them, they will buy it. Women mostly spend their money for shopping. Because some of them say that shopping is the most effective way to get rid of the stress they have been through.
As what Anne Norton said, shopping would allow women to escape from their homes and enjoy the company of other women without the presence of their husband or boyfriend. I absolutely agree with that, because I was doing a research for women with age 16-48 year old, and most of them say that sometimes they need their free time without their husband or boyfriend and their kids. They want to spend their free time with their female friends.
