Article: Vanwersch, R.J., Vanderfeesten, I., Rietzschel, E. and Reijers, H.A., 2015, August. Improving business processes: does anybody have an idea?. In International Conference on Business Process Management (pp. 3-18). Springer, Cham.
In this era of digitalised business operation, one of the most widely used technical terms in business process system is Business Process Engineering. Business process management (BPM) and business process engineering (BPE) is essential components for small to internationalised Corporate that allows developing the enterprise architecture while executing all operations efficiently and accurately (Van der Aalst 2012). The major cause behind choosing the article Vanwersch et al. 2015, Improving Business Processes, is its focus on new technique for finding and implementing process improvement ideas. The significance of the essay is to explore the ground rules of Business Process Management and the implementation techniques to increase its utility in organisational operation under the light of the selected article. The most important part of this essay enclosed with all the necessary components of the RePro (Rethinking of Processes) technique. Along with that, the content of this article review will also comprise the Information system based business operation, Usefulness of Business Process Engineering, Automated workflow in executing process, monitoring and controlling operation in Enterprise Business Process Architecture.
Author Vanwersch et al. has focused on a new technique for generating process improvement idea named RePro (Rethinking of Processes) technique. The backbone of this data operation technique is formed by process improvement principles which is described in the article that guides the practitioners to form a methodical and inclusive exploration and solution for any business process related problems. The author also conducted an experiment in order to compare the performance capacity of the RePro technique over the conventional brainstorming technique in Business Process Engineering. The author proved that the potentiality of using advanced technique during process redesign workshops can strongly influence the performance of overall business dataflow.
According to Vanwersch et al. 2015, the redesigning of business processes has a huge potential in terms of reducing processes’. The updating process of business forms has an enormous potential as far as decreasing procedures’ expenses and throughput times are considered. Eventually, it will also lead to improved business performance and enhanced consumer loyalty. A common procedure of redesigning activity comprises of depicting the as-is process, breaking down the shortcomings of as-is to recognize process, and developing the new ideas. This strategy requires direction towards the maximization of process option that would be beneficial for finding solution in disputed data operation. According to Vanwersch et al. 2015, as an optional innovative technique, RePro technique was developed to redesign the organizational architecture and data processing module with appropriate coordination with process improvement principles, Business Process Redesign (BPR) and TRIZ innovation principles.
The process of utilising the RePro technique in Business Process Management and Data Architectural development has the aim strongly connected to the overall productivity, efficiency and accuracy of organisational operation. Most of the adopters, who have already adopted this RePro technique instead of traditional brainstorming module for Business Information Process Architecture, admitted that an opportunity-centric or category-by-category based application technique can lead to 65-70% more innovative and data processing options than traditional brainstorming module (Vanwersch et al. 2015). According to Hull and Nezhad 2016, the situation is also similar when it is compared with adopting a problem-centric generation style for data process module in a Information interchange platform. A side by side representation of problem solving system in data processing system is highly required for any Database Operation in a Business organisation. In this care, the organisation will expect a more focused and productive approach to develop the solutions with categories may and prevent them from focusing on a particular set of attributes in a larger dataset.
As stated by Weske 2012, Intelligent System planning and data layer development procedure can provide the business operations a wider space to make the operational architecture, which is more useful to minimise the latency time and space complexity in a single runtime query processing cycle in Existing Database Management system. Instead of using brainstorming technique a more functional and advanced technique is required to develop more comprehensive data processing implementation plan that can successfully normalize the complex database cardinality in a vast data space. Vanwersch et al. 2015, argued for virtual indexing and paging method in the BPM suit an organisation requires the operational transformation to advance and intelligent Process Engineering. At the same time if the wider selections of optional data distribution can be delivered the organisation could utilise the data structure in several independent model to find out the optimum solution.
Starting from the beginning of the System Redesigning Practice featuring with Enterprise Architecture and Business Process Engineering RePro technique is in a continuous development cycle that allows rethinking of entire business design and operational architecture of data integrity system. Therefore, utilisation of RePro technique in the enterprise architecture can lead to dynamic, non-linear and robust data processing and handling capacity of Business Process Architecture. In nutshell, the RePro technique consists of two innovations namely an Executable Application Modeling procedure and an integration of two groups of Process Improvement Principles.
It is not an exception, that through utilizing the RePro method compelling procedure, the alternative options will probably be distinguished from the traditional system design when it will be compared with a conventional system design model. According to Vanwersch et al. 2015, an application system in view of the Data gathering and grouping procedure along with the staggered configuration approach that can guide special path to the implementation procedure of the RePro Principles. The RePro dynamic and multilevel system configuration allow the system design approach to be more distributive and decentralized and at the same time more configured as well as synchronized. The basic relational classes of RePro approach and standards are configured in three levels progressively: Service concept, Main process design, Detailed process design.
At the same time, the RePro strategy flawlessly offers multithreaded improvement thoughts under the consideration of RePro principles. Thus, it can be expected that the advanced and adoptive RePro procedure encourage a more holistic investigation of the data space arrangement as well as time complexity. In light of the applicable potentialities of RePro technique the theoretical resemblance between the heuristics planning and the RePro principles, the negative effect of the RePro system on organisational efficiency it terms of data handling processing, deliverability and flexibility can be increased significantly.
An application procedure of RePro technique is based on the nominal group technique and the multilevel design approach that enables designers for implimenting the RePro principles. This procedure includes the following phases: introduction and explanation of the procedure, idea generation by each individual based on RePro principles and an analysis of the as-is process, sharing ideas, discussing content, advantages and disadvantages of ideas, and voting and ranking ideas.
According to Vanwersch et al. 2015, in RePro category if the Customers be considered the Contacts with customers with 3 principles of RePro technique is applicable while conducting the process of Moving controls towards customers. In RePro category if Tasks be considered the The tasks that are part of the process with 6 principles of RePro technique is applicable while conducting the process of Adding tasks to avoid the occurrence of an objectionable situation or to reducing its impact. In RePro category if the External environment be considered the Collaboration and communication with third parties with 2 principles of RePro technique is applicable while conducting the process of Considering outsourcing a business process in whole or parts of it.
In RePro category if the Human resources be considered the amount and types of available human resources, and the system they are allocated to tasks under the 11 principles of RePro technique is applicable while Letting the employees perform as many steps as possible for solitary information. In RePro category if Task order and timing be considered the order in which responsibilities are executed and the more detailed schdule of task execution with 7 principles of RePro technique is applicable while Considering whether tasks may be executed in parallel platform. In RePro category if only the Business Information be considered the mode of information is utilised or shaped in the process is also accountable with 5 principles of RePro technique while considering introducing feedback from the primary information system (Vanwersch et al. 2015).
In RePro category if the Facilities, equipment and material be considered The number and types of available facilities, equipment and material, and the way these are allocated to tasks with are also accountable with 7 principles of RePro technique while Considering changing the number of involved non-human resources. In RePro category if Physical lay-out be considered The physical arrangement of the process is accountable with 3 principles of RePro technique while Making the spatial arrangement Flexible for the business operation (Vanwersch et al. 2015). In RePro category if Information and Communication Technology be considered The way information and communication technology is used is accountable with 2 principles of RePro technique while considering automated task allocation and eccentric data distribution.
In this article, in order to analyse and testify the practicality of RePro technique in organisational database architecture, a deductive approach is used while proposing one null hypothesis and 3 alternative hypothesises. The null hypothesis neglects the positive impact of RePro in data architecture designing and layer division process, whereas the other three hypothesises are focused on different strong attributes of the RePro technique that make it place over the top of traditional brainstorming. To testify all the hypothesises the research has conducted primary data analysis under a controlled experiment involving a survey of 89 graduate students in Industrial Engineering at Ghent University.
The article explained the quantitative results while testifying all hypotheses. As per the quantitative as well as qualitative analysis it has been clear that RePro technique is more usefull and efficient technique than traditional brainstorming in the development procedure of Business Process Architecture. The paper also offers a wide range of suggestions in order to improve the internal data processing and application interface planning procedure. This paper is a well structured documentation of business process development process that justifies why the RePro technique is better option to choose while developing business data structure or process architecture. However, the major limitation of this paper is its area of presentation. The paper focuses on the technique of developing an BPM in less time, instead of focusing on the practical implementation of BPM system after executing a successful RePro technique. The article shades light on the pre-development procedure of Business Process Management in Data Processing Engineering.
From this article, it can be said that in this era of digitalised business operation, one of the most widely used technical terms in business process system is Business Process Engineering. At the same time, developing the business process management (BPM) and business process engineering (BPE) is essential process for small to internationalised Corporate organisation that allows developing the enterprise architecture while executing all operations efficiently and accurately. As per the explanation of the author, the updating process of business process planning has an enormous potential as far as decreasing procedures’ expenses and throughput times are considered. It will also lead to improved business performance and enhanced consumer loyalty. The strategy of utilising the RePro technique in Business Process Management and Data Architectural development has the strong aim, which is connected to the overall productivity, efficiency and accuracy of organisational operation.
From the article review it can be conceded, that Intelligent System planning and data layer development procedure can provide the business operations a wider space to make the operational architecture, which is more useful to minimise the latency time and space complexity in a single runtime query processing cycle in Existing Database Management system. It has been noticed that an application procedure of RePro technique can be considered the multilevel design approach and supported by the nominal group technique that enables designers for applying the RePro principles. Moreover, by utilizing the RePro method and compelling procedure, the alternative options will probably be distinguished from the traditional system design when it will be compared with a conventional system design model.
