In the present scenario, it has been analyzed that work-life balance satisfaction is one of the major problems in various companies. Work-life balance should be there in the workplace so that it can be simple to complete the tasks in the right manner. If there is no work and life balance then it can be difficult for the employee to survive in the organization or to continue with a particular activity. By focusing on the recent scenario, to maintain work life is considered as a most important aspect to the company and it also gives a positive impact on employees. In this paper, the discussion will be made on the work-life balance. It has been seen that the workload in the companies is more which also disturbs the family life of the employees (Chan et al., 2016). So, it creates a severe issue for the employees to manage their work with their families. Also, these issues arise with female employees as they have to manage the entire activities of the activities.
Work life balance is not related to equal balance but it is adjusting the overall pattern of working so that workers can combine their work with other responsibilities like taking care of their children. There are various consequences related to work-life balance that can give effect on employee and employer. Employees face the issues related to mental health and physical health. It has been seen that there should be work-life satisfaction as it can give a positive impact on the overall productivity level of employees (Haar et al., 2014). So, it is important for the companies to focus on managing the work with the personal life of the people.
Work-life balance is important as it has been evaluated that when employees have a sense of control and ownership on their lives they can maintain good relations with the management. The employees can easily leave their work issues at work and home issues at home. When there is work-life balance then employees will feel motivated and also stress-free. It will directly impact the overall productivity and minimize the conflicts in the workplace. The companies who encourage work-life balance can easily attract more and more employees towards the company (Goh et al., 2015). The companies who focus on proper work-life balance can also enhance high employee retention rate which can lead to less time-consuming training and honesty of the employees. If there is proper work-life balance then it can lead to a high degree of expertise in the workplace. Positivity in the workplace can also be enhanced if there is a proper work-life balance in the workplace (Nayak and Sahoo, 2015).
There are various issues that can take place if there is no work life balance in the workplace. One of the major consequences is related to the health issue. If there is no work-life balancing the employees can face the issue of health. There are many researchers who stated that if employees consistently work then the negative impact can be seen on their health (Lu et al., 2016). So, to minimize the negative impact it has been seen that employees should be allotted proper time so that they can manage their health with work.
Also due to the lack of work-life balance, employees are not willing to work and it enhances absentees in the workplace. Employees are not able to complete their activities with dedication and efficiency. Also when work-life balance is not there, people are not able to manage their activities. It has been seen that it is important to focus on proper managing the work-life balance so that employees can focus on their work and also on their family equally(Deery and Jago, 2015). It has been analyzed that work-life balance should be there so that the number of absentees in the workplace can be reduced. If employees are absent it negatively affects the entire working process and also the productivity level of the company. This also negatively impacts the overall profits of the company.
Work-life balance is important for the company as it can help the employees to maintain their career and also to manage their family life. It has been analyzed that when the individual is not able to maintain their family life then they are not satisfied with their jobs. Therefore, it is the responsibility of the managers to focus on offering proper work-life balance to the employee so that job satisfaction can also be maximized (Direnzo, Greenhaus and Weer, 2015).
As it has been analyzed in the above statement that balancing a successful career with a personal or family life can be challenging and it also impacts on individual’s satisfaction in his or her work and personal life’s roles. But there are many ways that should be considered so that it can be simple for the employees to manage their work in the organization and also they can equally manage their personal activities (Raziq and Maulabakhsh, 2015). One of the ways through which work-life balance can be maintained is to plan carefully. It is important for the employee to plan the activities in a proper manner so that every task can be completed on time. Planning should be considered by the employees so that it can give a positive impact on their personal life and also on their professional life. It is the duty of the manager to assign the task in a proper manner so that employees do not suffer from stress and this can be only done through planning. Also, the employees should plan their family activities and organize their organizational work so that work can be done efficiently (Krishnan, Loon, and Tan, 2018).
Next step on which focus should be given is related to work in the company only. It has been evaluated that if the employee should work in the company only and do not take their work at home, as it gives negative impact on their family life and on their work. The work which is assigned to the employee should be completed at work so that after working hours personal life can also be managed. On weekend people should not do their work as it can affect the family life of the individual (Srivastava and Kanpur, 2014). For example: if an individual is engaged in doing the work of office on Sundays then it is difficult to manage the activities of the home. In this case, the work which is assigned to the workplace should be completed in the workplace only so that proper work-life balance can be maintained.
The company should offer company outings so that stress can be reduced and also employee morale can be boosted. It also helps the employees to know each other in a non-stressful capacity by giving occasional company outings. The outings depend on the company budget and culture so the companies should set their culture in such a way that the motivation level of the employees can be boosted. The companies should offer lunch and also happy hours parties so that work-life balance can be maintained and people can easily complete their tasks. In the busy schedule, it is important for the company to focus on giving some relaxation time so that employees can feel good and positive energy can be regained again. It creates a good workplace environment which motivates the employees to complete their activities which dedication and efficiency at the workplace (Mas-Machuca, Berbegal-Mirabent, and Alegre, 2016).
Workplace life balance is important so that employees can also focus on their health. If they are indulged in their office work only then it is difficult for them to give time on their own health. So, work life balance can be maintained by focusing on exercising, as it has been analyzed that exercising can reduce stress and also give positive impact on the individuals. Positive mind should also be kept by the employees so that they can manage their work in a proper manner. If an employee has a positive mind then they will also generate positive ideas which will be beneficial in managing their routine work (Jain and Kaur, 2014).
Therefore, it has been concluded that work life balance is a challenging issue in organizations. It is important to manage the work life balance so that it can be simple for the company to accomplish their goals and objectives. It has been seen that to maintain work life balance it is important to focus on planning, day outings and leaving work at workplace. Work life balance is important to be considered by the employee and employer so that it can be simple to manage the work at home and also at workplace. Positive impact can be analyzed if there is proper work life balance in the workplace. The employees will be motivated and satisfied with their job if there is work life balance.
