A team is formed with skilled employees to carry out a particular task that other employees cannot execute (Schjoedt et al. 2013). The role of the team member is to carry out the tasks successfully which is allocated to them, keeping the team manager informed about the progress or any issue that arises during the project work. Working in team helps in sharing a wide knowledge among the team members. Team work is highly required in doing some important projects. This paper deals with Westin hotel. The hotel management wants to upgrade their hotel and turn it into 5 star rated hotel. This needs full participation of the team. The hotel wants to expand its size and include 150 rooms and leisure and fitness facility. this will give them a competitive advantage over their competitor.
The responsibilities that the team needs to take for successful execution of the tasks are:
Westin hotel in Canada is a 4-star rated hotel, which wants to increase their business to gain more profit and increase their brand goodwill (Zakariya, Harun & Mansor 2014). Westin hotel’s main aim is to upgrade their hotel from 4-star rating to 5-star rating hotel. To execute this plan they need to plan from the design of the hotel. Westin hotel’s management wants to expand their capacity and include 150 rooms that will have the facility of leisure and fitness. They also planned to provide IT solutions and connectivity to their guests (Torres, Fu & Lehto 2014). The team member needs to involve in this project of making the hotel better so that it attracts more customer. Improving the design of the hotel and making it 5-star rating hotel will give them many competitive advantages. This will also increase the popularity of the hotel. The team needs to involve themselves in other projects as well because participation in other types of project will increase their knowledge.
Team involvement is very necessary in order to make the change (Berry & Kato 2018). The team member needs to share their ideas by which it becomes easier for the organization to make the necessary changes. Team members have to work within the time allotted to them because if the work does not finishes within the given time then the hotel can bear a huge loss. The team member has to teach the employees how to deal with this change. Change in the design also brings change in the rules and policies of the hotel. The team member should establish clear and proper policies for their guests and the employees.
The team needs to deliver results, which will help in growth of the organization. This will help in increasing the creativity of the people working together and will help in generating new ideas with the help of brainstorming sessions. This will also help to upgrade their design through innovation. The knowledge of the employees becomes more refined and they become more able to handle all the challenges in case of change management.
The project will be successful only when the output of the project is favorable to the organization. The project members have to design in a way so that it increases the number of guests visiting the hotel. The design should attract the guests, which will increase the sales of the hotel. The project should be completed in time within the allocated budget. The new design of the hotel should bring more facilities to the customer like fitness facility, pool facility, more parking capacity etc.
The project plan includes IT facilities, like free WI-FI hotspot connection to the guests, and better customer information storing facility. The extra 150 rooms that are included in the plan should be well furnished so that the guests get full satisfaction. This will help in repeated purchase by the customer (Tariq et al. 2013). Repeated purchase helps in bringing a huge amount of revenue in the organization. Apart from this, it will also help in increasing the customer base of the hotel.
To execute the project plan the projects staffs needs to take responsibilities. Team responsibility and individual responsibility both needs to be taken to successfully make the project plan work (Tims et al. 2013). Individual responsibility means the responsibilities that an individual should take to execute the plan and team responsibility means the responsibility that an entire team have to take to successfully perform the plan.

The team needs to engage themselves with the help of collaborative work. This helps other individuals to interact clearly. Interacting with other people helps in understanding the viewpoints about the project work. Westin hotel’s team leader can use a effective communication strategy with the team members, which help in sharing clear and innovative ideas with other individuals. Team project helps in promoting a wider ownership sense among the members of the team. This makes them feel proud about their contribution in the market and this helps to tackle all kinds of problems themselves.
On the achievement of any task, the team members report directly to the team leader, and then he allocates another task to that member.
The whole process needs active participation of the team. Team involvement will help to get more innovative ideas, which will make the task easier for the team to achieve. The process needs complete involvement of the staffs this will help them to increase their knowledge and will help them in increasing their production. The brainstorming process will help to foster the level of creativity among the people and will also bring new ideas among the employees.

Awareness: The team member should be aware of their surroundings. This helps in making better decisions. Understanding the interests and the aims of the business helps the employees to work with clarity (De Laat & Schreurs 2013).
Belief: The belief that the team can meet deadline and expectations helps in increasing the performance of the team. The belief in the ability of the each individual, trusting each other is highly necessary among the members of the team (Kumar & Kumar 2014).
Communicative: The team members need to be communicative with each other it helps to understand the feelings and thoughts of other employee this contribute to the effective team involvement (Zhang & Venkatesh 2013).
Involvement: Team involvement is highly necessary. All the members should actively involve themselves in the project wok this will increase their performance level. This will provide a lot of knowledge and bring more ideas in the team.
Responsibility: The team members should be able to handle their responsibility so that the team does not fail to finish the task within the deadline. Every single individual should take his or her responsibility seriously (Habib & Wahid 2016).
Focus: Clear goals and measurable goals help in giving proper direction. The team should understand where the team is heading it increases the performance of the team. Focusing on the goals and moving according to the goals helps the team to attain the goal without any issue.
Flexible: The team members need to be flexible so that they can adapt any situation at any point of time. Flexibility helps in increasing the effectiveness of the team members.
