Discuss about the Communication Styles for Attribution and Communication Styles.
Communication styles are an aspect of delivery. By this, I mean, they bring out the live character of an individual as they are and explains why they are as they are and why they do what they do. This being from a psychological point of view. On the other hand, too, I might agree that different people have their own way of explaining this phenomenon on communication
It is in this report that all the three parts are discussed, the: passive, assertive and also the aggressive according to how they bring out the results in a person and also the recipients that are the people who receive the action. Highlights on two case studies are provided in this report that requires a reflective point of view.
On this part, what is majored on directly are the three main points of focus there are. The passive one is characterized as a step over, which shows that this kind of person especially when in an argument tends to draw back quickly and easily (Smets, and Struyven, 2018) Secondly is the assertive type of style. This attributes to the kind of people who make decisions and stick to them. As a matter of fact, they back up their assertiveness by what they think are facts. This means that they do not go down easily and especially on an argumentative subject they tend to raise their voices to be heard in a kind of way that is approachable.
Lastly, in this category, falls the aggressive kind of style. Now, when it comes to this, a lot can be said especially in the kind of atmosphere people with this character tend to create around people. It is mostly not a good kind of atmosphere per say because a lot of people withdraw from having conversations with this character because of the fear instilled inside of them (Tapia, I.E. and Marcus, C.L., 2018.)
One thing that can be noticed from all these three analyses is the fact that they are all different and especially in taking sides of aggressive versus assertive. The deduction is that from the two, one is approachable and the other one is not, therefore, creating a gap between people. This is where the whole difference comes in.
Being in a situation where a plane crash has occurred and the only items that are with us for survival are few, 15 to be specific. One thing to note is that we are as a team and so sharing will be the only way of survival in this case. How then will it be for us? It is from this that we are to choose what is most important to keep us going because it is in the desert, an area that with no food or money or any other human resource to depend or rely on.
Negotiation is key, and especially during this time that everyone in a need and everyone has to have a say. Getting back to the three styles, each has to have a reflection in this situation. This is in order of the most silent to the loudest because you do not know what you will find in a person until you get to know them personally (Pettigrew, J., Miller-Day, M., Shin, Y., Krieger, J.L., Hecht, M.L. and Graham, J.W., 2018.)
Beginning with the passive person, one with this kind of style and nature would be naturally silent. For example, in this situation, they would only talk awaiting approval. One may give their own suggestion of what to do with the items in fear of contradiction from other people. In the event that their view does not matter as per the others, they tend to draw back without contending (Papoutsi, C., Poots, A., Clements, J., Wyrko, Z., Offord, N. and Reed, J.E., 2018.)
On the other part, this kind of people may be called upon to make a contribution and may shy away very easily. They may not want to take up the tasks given to them or rather any responsibilities whatsoever. As in this particular case study, a passive person would be noted trying to withdraw from making some particular decisions especially when they know that it would bring some kind of objection. An example is on how to share particular things, say how to share the only remaining water or even food or more so any other item.
Assertive. This style of communication would most probably fit in well with the current situation. This style would come in handy in making decisions that people would come to respect and act on. They make informed decisions. In this case, they are the thinkers, however, what they come to present to the people has to be in detail. To avoid misleading the people with the wrong concepts and ideas (Lim, R.E., Sung, Y.H. and Lee, W.N., 2018.)
In a desert situation, this style would bring cohesion to the people. You see, people tend to get drawn nearer to this person rather than far apart. They tend to agree with everything they are told, be it wrong or right. It is very hard for them to get an objection when they have aired out their views and substantiated them so theirs is not a hard deal to get by.
The aggressive style is the last most part of this. What happens in most cases and especially in the case of decision making in the desert, is that their decisions or views in this matter tend too become too tight or rather dictatorial in a manner that tends to scare away or push back other people suggestingly that their ideas are null and void.
Looking at the style in itself, it does not bring out a good outcome as in the case of the results. Take for example, if a person with this style and nature take to making decision in the desert, it mainly proves hard for someone to fully agree with what is being said, it is either the person does not balance his or her decision in this matter to favour both sides or the views given are partial in a manner that is not fair and so the people tend to draw back.
A passive person will tend to be kind in a kind of a quick fix situation that leads them to stay away in this place, an assertive person will rise up to defend what they believe in an organized way, while the aggressive one will come in as an unexpected attack that leads to show harshness.
Now, when looking at all the three styles together in the desert, working as a team may prove to be difficult to follow as all the three may want to bring themselves out in a manner suggesting that they exist. It may not be easy to bring all the three styles to a common agreement that would be fair for all (Iskandarova, S. and Griffin, O.T., 2018.)
You see, in this context, what is mainly focused on is a situation that determines life or death. It is a desert where there is no source of food or water or any other satisfying manner of the item, to human beings. Then comes in the issue of decision making and the concept of what first. It is indeed not an easy job. It is what that is done next that will determine the other steps to follow. It is a make or break kind of situation, if you may like.
As the conflict of style progresses, in the desert there is one phrase that comes in handy and that is survival of the fittest. So now, what has to be done is to decide what next, bearing in mind that everybody has to, in one way or the other be a partaker of the decisions of what is important to be kept and what is not important.
For sure in this context, we say that all opinions matters but for now, this short phrase has to be shelved and can be retrieved afterward. This is because it does not really agree with what the context is in this case. As seen, in all the three styles especially the passive style that tends to kind of shy away from making any decision (Anstey, et al., 2018.)
Conclusion
With all the written summary above, it is indeed true that a lot has been put in focus in terms of trying to bring out all the three styles in the context that they are in. in this case, the desert is the location in which this reflective report is based on. Again it is a report that tends to discover the argument brought up by the styles.
In all that has been discussed above, it is true to state that among the three communication styles non is important than the other, though, in a selective discriminatory way, I choose to say that the assertive style is much better as compared to the other two. All in all, the styles have been essential in this part as they provide a better understanding of the real situation and what is done to handle it.
