Discuss About The Organisations To Protect The Environment.
Despite the significant number of climate based meetings at the global basis and climate protection act, the global government has largely been unsuccessful in protecting the environment. On a similar note, organizations in particular those associated with manufacturing businesses have struggled to contribute significantly to environmental protection. Actions can be observed at the global level like the Paris Agreement under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) (Gao, Gao and Zhang 2017). However, the global government is not still able to protect the environment. Multinational firms specifically are taking part in corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities. However, such activities are not sufficient as well. Premature deaths at the global level are now increasing. Highly polluted environment around people appears to be the one major reason for premature deaths.
Thesis statement: “Government is unable to take bold decisions against damaging business practices like land deforestation because of its large dependence on local and international businesses for its economic development”
Controlling ideas: There is a need for effective policies and its implementation as well. Business practices must be strictly monitored for its use of effective measures to reduce the greenhouse gas emission and also for CSR activities.
Thesis statement: “Stopping deforestation can help to protect the environment”
Deforestation is largely responsible for decreasing green surface on the earth. Deforestation is done to make the land usable for agriculture, urbanization and businesses. Hence, if there are effective policies to control the deforestation in the world, the issue can then be brought near to a solution. Plants are very essential for a healthy environment. Plants emit oxygen which is required for breathing to living beings. CO2 released by living beings is only absorbed by plants. Assuming that there is no pant on this entire world, there will be more and more CO2 emitting from living beings, increasing number of vehicles, factories and lot others. Breathing will then become difficult and living beings will start dying. The beautiful creature will no longer exist after few years of no plant on the earth.
Deforestation can be reduced with effective government policies on land use and CSR activities form organizations.
According to Arima et al. (2014), public policies can reduce tropical deforestation.
As opined by Dauvergne (2017), stopping deforestation will affect the agricultural and different other industries that are dependent on agriculture. In that case, fresh and organic foods will not be produced anymore. This will accelerate many diseases like obesity.
Yes, this is indeed true that stopping deforestation will affect the direct and indirect beneficiaries of agriculture and urbanization. Farmers are the direct beneficiaries of agriculture as it is their source of income. Human being, grocery & fruit businesses and the government are the indirect beneficiaries of agriculture. The need for fresh foods and fruits are served through agriculture. Grocery and fruit business is dependent on farming lands to get their required materials. Government is dependent on grocery businesses and the consumption of foods by people for its economic development.
Deforestation from one point of view is good as there will be a lot of green surfaces on earth. This is not appropriate from the perspectives of government, businesses, people and the suppliers. Businesses in specific the supermarket brands need the supplies of fresh fruits and grocery items. Customers need fresh fruits, vegetables and other food items, so that, they only get fresh foods. Suppliers such as farmers need to do farming to manage their daily living expenses.
Fresh foods are important to avoid obesity and other diseases. Flourishing local and international businesses fulfill the economic demand of a country. Farmers will not survive if they do not have any earning resources. It means deforestation serves many purposes and stopping it will disturb or even destroy the entire system.
Example: Deforestation is unstoppable
Deforestation cannot be entirely stopped as it is not just related to one body; it is rather related to the government, people and suppliers. Stopping deforestation is asking about a complex world where there are more problems than the present.
Deforestation is the need for worldwide businesses, people and the government. The interrelated benefits will probably discourage the global government from being so strict for deforestation.
As opined by Longobardi et al. (2016), rising agricultural lands is the primary cause of deforestation. Population growth produced the needs to cultivate incremented supply of foods. Hence, stopping deforestation at this point of time looks impractical.
In summary, this can be said that it is a good idea to reduce the deforestation or completely stop it. However, driving forces for deforestation such as growing population and the consecutive rising needs for agricultural lands can possibly prove the controlling idea an invalid strategy.
Controlling idea: Reduce the greenhouse gas emission
Thesis statement: “Greenhouse gas emission should be reduced to protect the environment”
The incrementing greenhouse gas emission is a major reason behind the rising environmental pollution. Air with increased CO2 content can cause severe breathing issues and other diseases as well. Notably, global countries have failed so far in controlling the rising content of CO2. A lot of summits such as Paris Agreement could not do wonder to it.
CO2 is uncontrollable as it appears from the rising demands for the range of vehicles, manufacturing plants and others.
In the opinion of Chen et al. (2016), a long exposure to polluted air may result in deaths from lung cancer.
According to Begum et al. (2015), per capita GDP growth has an adverse impact on CO2 emission. It means that developing nations in particular will be at high risk as increasing per capita GDP will boost the CO2 content in air.
Developing nations like Brazil, China, India, Nigeria and others will be in a lot of trouble as per capita GDP increase will also elevate the CO2 content in the air. Moreover, it goes against the controlling idea which seeks the reduction in greenhouse gas emission.
Economic development is the worldwide concern; however, the concern does also give space to the possibility of the rise in CO2 emissions. There are many factors responsible for economic development such as the technological advancement of industries.
CO2 emission cannot be reduced possibly due to rising demands for cars or other vehicles, buying capability of people, changing consumer pattern for the range of products & services and others.
An incrementing sale of EVs and reduction of manufacturing plants or use of preventive measures can do the thing.
EVs are known for less or probably no CO2 emissions. Reduction in greenhouse gas emission is only possible when there are no Non-electric vehicles on roads. Manufacturing plants are not also an obsolete fact because demands for food and consumer good services are increasing.
Reduction of greenhouse gas emission will require a whole lot of changes from EVs to the reduction in manufacturing facilities. Such changes are not realistic at this point in time.
As argued by Vilathgamuwa and Sampath (2015), EVs as of now is not an attractive option for customers due to various reasons like energy storage technology.
This can be said that it is near to impossible to reduce the greenhouse gas emission from the air.
Conclusion
In summary, this can be said that forest deforestation is unstoppable for various reasons. Also, that greenhouse gas emission is a challenge to the global world. “Stopping deforestation can help to protect the environment” does not look practical at present. “Greenhouse gas emission should be reduced to protect the environment” is a must do an act; however, it is also an impractical fact at present. There is a need for serious and effective measures from the government, public and organizations. Unless and until they are not collaborated effectively serving one vision, things will not change significantly.
