I think that one of my biggest strength that I have developed over the years is to manage a team effectively. I know how to handle the complications that may arise due to the work pressure or the presence of so many different members within the same organization. I am also very empathic towards all my teammates. I know that they are working under me and they want some respect from my end as well. It is for this reason that I always try my level best to look after all their needs and requirements. I know how to take care of all the interests of my teammates. I also keep in mind that as their supervisor or their leader I have to grow each domain knowledge that the need to carry on their worm. The first person that they will reach out to is me. |
There are some places where I am weak and I need to develop myself. I need to focus more on the principles of team management. This is one of the most important parts of leadership. As a leader, I must know how to deal with any kind of work pressure coming in the way. I have faced trouble in understanding the group development of the team and put my expectations at a greater level. I feel that one of the strengths that I can use is my team management ability and the support that Incan provides to the team member. This is because I have been working as the Finance and Grant Manager in Catholic Relief Services. I believe it to be one of the very important job roles that need a good grip over the domain-specific knowledge and the ways of training the subordinates as well. This is because I have been supervising the role of one of the finance officers and a compliance officer along with one administrative officer as well (Cottrell, 2015). So I had to look after some of the very important roles of the organization. I had to supervise the controlling of the finance or the budget of the organization. I had to supervise the finance officers on the amount of cash flow in the organization. These are some of the very vital job roles that I had to look after (Nicholas & Steyn, 2017). As the objective of this organization is to support the weak and the poor all across the nation and beyond, I feel that this is a very tough job. I have been following this job role properly and have also been quite successful in carrying on all these works properly.
I have been able to earn the faith of my teammates or my subordinates by proving to them that I can take care of all their interests. I feel that being their leader or their supervisor I must be empathetic towards them I make sure that I am not only providing them the professional support but also the moral support that they need. I try to understand all their doubts, complaints or any kinds of issues that they are facing. This indeed is very useful and I can use this strength even in the future days. I know that I always need to take the opinions and the values of all my teammates. They must never suffer from this feeling that they are being neglected in the organization.
They have to be cheered up every time. I make sure that I am calling all of my teammates whenever there is an important meeting or any other such discussion. This will help them know that I value them and that they are a very important asset of this organization. As I have good communication skill, this is really very helpful for the future purposes.
As I want to become a Global Fund Project Director for Operations, I have to take care of my team and communicate each and every decision with them. As I have a rating of 3.5 in the team management field, I feel that I have good capability in this (Uhl & Gollenia, 2016). I will have to nurture this ability so that it can be of good use in the future. I believe that after 5 years I will be in charge of a more prestigious power. I know that with power comes responsibilities and I will have to handle more complications and a larger team. This will need a brilliant control over the communication and the team management ability (Tattum & Tattum, 2017).
My opportunity is the way I try to work on my strength and try to prove to my supervisors that I can bridge the gap between my talents and my weaknesses as well. I will have to devote more time to the work and understand the complexities of the work as well. I will have to earn the trust of my bosses by showing them that I have the potential of working and becoming much more dedicated than I am now.
I can also work on my gaps and can provide more quality work to the company. I will also have to work on my ability to understand the financial complexities and the financial reporting works that are done by my teammates. I must keep in mind that if I want to become a global fund project Director for Operations, then I need to really focus on my financial reporting expertise. This is also because of the fact that I have a low rating of 2 in the skill audit that was done by me. It shows that this is one of the areas that I need to improve in (Sadgrove, 2016). If I am not well versed in this field then I will never be able to support my teammates and they will feel that I am not capable enough to help them. So, I have to learn about this field and gain more knowledge on the same (Hallam & Council, 2015).
I feel that one of the most difficult parts that I have come across in the term of my leadership activity is gaining a good understanding of the development and the requirements of my team. I have at times set my expectation levels at a huge position from the teammates who still needed a good amount of training I feel that this is one of the major weakness or an area of development that I need to work upon (Kroemer et al., 2015).
I often mistook some of the team members at the performing sage but they were still at the storming age. In other words, those employees needed a good amount of training for developing their skills. I have to realize this fact that there is no gain in rushing after anything (Gilbuena & Koretsky, 2015). I must rather give ample time to my subordinates and also provide them with all kinds of support that they need.
I have to keep in mind that there can be several unforeseen risks in future and I will have to work on finding out strategies that will not make these risks affect the overall production get hampered in any way. I will have to gain more transparency and expertise in the field of financial management and also business administration (Xie et al., 2015). Hence I will somehow have to overcome this problem. I have to stay aware of this threat and make sure that I can allocate the resources in a way that would help me to mitigate the risks in the long run. I will also have to stay alert about the time management aspect. This is one of the most crucial things that I have to take care of. So, I will have to train myself accordingly so that I do not face any bug problem (Hopkin, 2018).

The short-term goals (for next 12 months)
My first objective will be to complete my training in graduation in the masters of business administration course. This will also help me in becoming confident and deal with all the problems in an organized and efficient manner. This will also help me in my future endeavors. I will have to understand the ways in which in which the inflow and the outflow of the finances take place within the organization.
Medium term goals (for the next two to three years)
I will have to develop myself in such a way that will help me in making sure that I can handle the complicated works efficiently and properly. I will also try my level best to make sure that I am trying to improve my skills in the project management system. As I want to achieve a higher position in the same field in the coming years, I must also try to develop myself in the proper way. I must try my best to have that attitude that will help me in meeting with the big and more complicated projects in the coming years.
My long-term goal in the coming scenario is to become a Deputy Head of the Operations Department in Global Fund Project. Hence, I will need to gather all the skills and expertise that is needed for achieving this job role. I will have to be more open in accepting the challenges. I will hence have to analyze my employees or my teammates in a proper way so that I do not give u necessary stress on them. I have to train myself in a proper way so that I can support them properly. I have seen that my score as per the audit of skills for the post of Deputy Head of the Operations Department in Global Fund Project is low in the finance handling parts. This shows that my expertise in the field of accounting, business administration, financial reporting, program reporting. So, I will have to gain a good knowledge of the same.
